Founder of Trust

Born on October 15, 1913 to a middle class family in Agra, Shri P.C. Mangalick moved to the U.S. in 1970.  There, he started a business with practically no assets. Working around the clock with his wife, Shrimati Shanti Mangalick, P.C. made the business grow into a large importing and distributing operation that continues to exist today. Despite their success, P.C. and his wife lived a very simple life, even sleeping on the floor at night. What money P.C. made, he saved, so that one day he would be able to spend all the money that he made in the U.S. to help the poor in and around Agra.

Around 1980, P.C. started to plan and organize a team of people to begin a charitable project in Agra. He made several trips to Agra where he established the P.C. Mangalick Charitable Trust and bought a large piece of land in order to start a healthcare facility for the poor. Today, the Shanti Mangalick Charitable Hospital stands on this piece of land.

While the hospital was being built, a large eye camp was arranged. About 30 eye care professionals, including accomplished ophthalmologists, optometrists and other support staff from the U.K. and the U.S, generously volunteered their time – needless to say, the camp was a success.

P.C. did not stop at just the hospital project. He continued to think of other projects to help the poor around Agra. He established the Shanti Mangalick High School for children from the villages around Agra and he also started the Shanti Mangalick School of Nursing and Paramedical, which provides education for nurses and operation theatre technicians.
